Apple's AI model Apple Intelligence is coming only to these iPhones, iPads and Macs

iPhone, iPad and Mac compatible with Apple Intelligence

  • Apple Intelligence is only compatible with the A17 Pro chip and the M1 to M4 SoCs. So only devices running on these processors will be able to access Apple Intelligence. This includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPads running on the M1 chip or later, and Macs powered by the M1 chip or later.
  • There are still several iPads and Macs that will get access to Apple's AI features, but for iPhones, it's only the iPhone 15 Pro series. These are Apple's most expensive iPhones with prices starting at Rs 1,34,900 in India.
  • It is also understood that the upcoming iPhone 16 series will get Apple Intelligence, and any new iPad or Mac models. Apple Intelligence will be available in beta, and will be released later with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. All features will be available in US English only.

The limited access to Apple intelligence for just two iPhones may seem disappointing as Samsung and Google have also been more generous with their AI features. Samsung rolled out its AI features for the Galaxy S23 series last year and plans to expand it to older models as well. Google has also rolled out its AI editing features to older Pixel phones.

Apple's new AI features

Apple unveiled its new AI feature at WWDC 2024, named 'Apple Intelligence'. Siri has received the biggest upgrade with Apple Intelligence, giving it a completely new look and making it feel more natural. You can now type tasks to Siri, perform action commands within apps, and even extract details from a photo and enter them into a form.

Apple Intelligence also lets you create images and emojis using AI. All you have to do is enter a text prompt and the AI will do the rest. Writing will also become easier with AI-powered tools, so you can proofread and even rephrase your sentences. Apple has also rolled out photo editing with a Magic Eraser-like cleanup tool for Photos.
