Smartphone designs are becoming unique and every brand is moving towards creating its own identity. The Realme 12 5G has the same circular camera module on the back panel and that makes it quite recognizable among the group. The Moto G64, on the other hand, has a square module at the back that houses two cameras and an LED flash. We also see the iconic Moto logo.

The front is distinctive with a centrally-located punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter and flat edges, but sizable bezels around the screen. Both the Moto G64 and Realme 12 have polycarbonate bodies and this helps in weight distribution.

The Moto G64 5G and Realme 12 5G offer an IPS LCD display, which is expected considering they are budget offerings. There's also a 120Hz refresh rate for a better scrolling experience through the UI and smooth animations. However, the Realme 12 5G is ahead with a larger 6.72-inch screen compared to the 6.5-inch panel of the Moto G64 5G. Brightness is also 950nits as opposed to 560nits on the Realme 12. This should provide better visibility in sunlight outside.

The only advantage the Moto G64 5G has is the addition of a Corning Gorilla Glass layer and a 240Hz touch sampling rate compared to 180Hz on the Realme.

Moto G64 5G is the world's first smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 7025 SoC. Realme 12 5G comes with Dimensity 6100+. While both chipsets are aimed at budget offerings, it is the Moto G64 that has a slight edge in the benchmarks. Our Review Note that the Realme 12 5G has managed to score 4.17 lakh points in AnTuTu, while the Moto G64 5G has scored 4.97 lakh points in our testing.

Apart from the benchmarks, both the phones are capable of handling everyday tasks like web browsing, clicking pictures, taking calls, checking emails and more. We didn't notice any lag or lag in the UI. There is no major heating either. We'll have more to say about the Moto G64 5G in our review.


Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: Cameras

Moto G64 5G comes with a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. For selfies and video chats we have a 16MP shooter on the front.

On the other hand, Realme 12 5G gets 108MP primary ISOCELL HM6 sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies and video chats, we get an 8MP shooter on the front.

From a numbers perspective, the Realme 12 5G has the advantage thanks to its larger 108MP camera, but the inclusion of OIS support holds the Moto back. Selfies should also be better as we get a larger front camera sensor.

The Moto G64 is a clear winner in battery capacity as we get a larger 6,000mAh battery compared to the Realme's 5000mAh unit. In comparison, its battery life should be better and last longer on a single charge.

However, the Realme gets 45W fast charging compared to 33W on the Moto. The former is claimed to take around 70 minutes to charge from 20-100 percent. We should know about the charging speed of the Moto G64 5G when we review it soon.

Both the Realme 12 5G and Moto G64 5G run the latest Android 14 OS, but the Moto offers a near-stock interface compared to the custom Realme UI. While Moto has only one software upgrade, Realme has promised two OS updates.


Both the Moto G64 5G and Realme 12 5G are balanced phones with similar benefits. With the Moto, you get better performance, a cleaner software experience but only with a software update promise, a primary camera with OIS, a faster selfie camera, and most importantly, a larger 6,000mAh battery.

The Realme 12 5G offers a larger screen, two OS updates, an impressive 950nits brightness for better outdoor visibility, and a fast 45W charging adapter in the box. So the choice is clear, if you want performance and a good camera on top of everything else, the Moto G64 is a better buy.
