OnePlus 13 prototype testing reveals major design changes for the next flagship

Changes in the design of OnePlus 13

OnePlus is reportedly planning to switch to a different design language for the OnePlus 13. This information is based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 prototype products that the brand is currently testing internally. The next-generation flagship, which will be the OnePlus 13, will arrive later this year with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.

  • According to Tipster Digital Chat Station, the prototype Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 device that is being tested, does not have a stainless steel hinge and a circular camera module.
  • These are two key design elements for the current OnePlus flagships, so the brand is going to do something different with the next batch. But with no visual evidence, it is best to wait before jumping to any conclusions.
  • The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will be the next flagship chipset for the smartphone. It should be launched in October this year, after which we'll start seeing flagship phones with Snapdragon chipsets.
  • Early benchmark results show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will have a maximum clock speed of 4.0GHz. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. It's still very early but we should start seeing more details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 soon.

As far as the OnePlus 13 is concerned, we are expecting to see it debut in China in December. Apart from the design and chipset, we should see more upgrades in the OnePlus 13 compared to its predecessor OnePlus 12.
