What's new in POCO M6?
The POCO M6 is the successor to the POCO M5, which is already available in India. The new model gets a larger 6.79-inch display compared to the 6.58-inch panel and has the same 90Hz refresh rate. The handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, which is a slight downgrade from the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC on the POCO M5.
The 50MP + 2MP + 2MP camera setup on the POCO M5 has been replaced by a larger 108MP Samsung sensor and a 2MP macro unit. Although we get a bigger camera on the back panel, we can't comment on whether it's an upgrade or a downgrade until we see the resulting photos. The 8MP selfie shooter on the POCO M6 is being replaced by a 13MP snapper.
The battery capacity has also increased slightly to 5,030mAh compared to the 5,000mAh unit on the POCO M5. The fast charging speed on the POCO M6 has also increased from 18W to 33W. Interestingly, the POCO M5 came with an IP52 rating, but there is no such protection for the POCO M6.
Measurements of the POCO M5 8.9mm and weighs 201 grams. In comparison, the POCO M6 is slightly thinner at 8.9mm and weighs 205 grams.
Specifications and Features of POCO M6
The POCO M6 sports a 6.79-inch FHD+ LCD display with 1080×2400 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The handset is powered by a 12nm MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra processor with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU for graphics. The chipset is paired with 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, which is expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card.
The POCO phone runs on Xiaomi HyperOS custom skin based on Android 14. The handset sports a 108MP primary Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture LED flash. There is a 13MP shooter for selfies and video chats.
For security we get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an FM radio. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C, and NFC. There is a 5,030mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
