daylight

By default, the Realme GT 6T captures photos with warmer tones, while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro tries to mimic real colours but with prominent shadows and hues. As a result, photos taken by the latter can look more dramatic and at times flashy.

If you look at these photos taken in daylight, it will be easy to differentiate between the two smartphones.

The dynamic range and overall colour balance in images with the Realme GT 6T look better. Colours are boosted on the iQOO Neo 9 Pro, while contrast is set to high by default. The images don't look bad by any means, but the prominent shadows lead to an average dynamic range.

Both smartphones capture good details of the tiles on the floor and the red building. The Realme GT 6T does a better job at capturing details of the black tiles near the fountain as it doesn't go too far with the contrast unlike the iQOO Neo 9 Pro. The GT 6T also captures the accurate colour of the sky.

If you use the 2x mode for the primary, you'll see the same color science.

the winner: Realme GT 6T

Ultra Wide

There is a slight inconsistency in the ultra-wide samples compared to the shots taken with the primary camera. The amount of contrast and highlights is the same on both phones, though the colour treatment is different.

The Realme GT 6T's photo has vibrant colors, while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro's photo looks closer to real life. Thus, there is more scope for different types of editing on the iQOO photo.

Both smartphones capture an average amount of detail in elements such as floors, building bricks, and tree leaves. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro does a relatively good job with the overall sharpness of photos, which is why I like its images. However, if you choose the Realme GT 6T for its vibrant approach, it is fine.

the winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Picture

The Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro take advantage of the primary camera with portrait shots.

At first glance, both the photos will look similar, but you will also start to notice the colour science similar to the photos taken in daylight. The Realme GT 6T again has high saturation (in a good way), while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro offers balanced tonality. Both phones do an average job in terms of capturing facial details, although I am happy with the skin colour detection, even if it is a bit bright.

After adjusting the depth to f/2.2, the bokeh effect is the same in both photos. However, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro does a better job in terms of edge detection.

the winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Selfie

For selfies, the Realme GT 6T offers a wider field-of-view by default, which can be useful for group shots. After enabling portrait mode, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro again did a better job at edge detection.

However, the colours look more natural in the Realme GT 6T's image. The phone captures facial details better in bright lighting conditions.

the winner: Realme GT 6T

Low Light

When it comes to taking pictures in low light, both the smartphones deserve praise for their excellent performance and noise reduction capabilities.

At first glance, both photos may look more or less the same, but you will notice prominent shadows in the image with the iQOO Neo 9 Pro. This is also because these night shots are captured with the primary camera, so the software optimisation is the same. It also handles lens flare and over-exposed light more efficiently than the Realme GT 6T.

Overall, the photos taken with the iQOO Neo 9 Pro have better sharpness and highlights, making the shots look more social media-ready. This is also because it has a larger primary camera sensor. Notably, it has also created a starburst effect, which looks quite impressive.

the winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Low light (night mode enabled)

Enabling Night mode on the Realme GT 6T doesn't bring any significant improvement to the image, although background tints are more readable. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro's image looks more dramatic, but it offers much better dynamic range. Also, the sharpness of leaves and walls becomes more prominent after enabling Night mode.

The phone handles lens flare better, and we see the impressive starburst effect on the right.

the winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Decision

Based on our results, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro does a better job in low light, and its shots in daylight are as good, if not better. The Realme GT 6T offers a good dynamic range and warm tones in most of its photos, which some users may like. But for capturing social media-ready images without much editing, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro is relatively better.

Other things to keep in mind are:

  • The iQOO Neo 9 Pro supports 8K recording, though the best stability is achieved at full-HD resolution at 60fps. The Realme GT 6T only supports 4K recording at 60fps.
  • Coming to the front camera, the Realme GT 6T offers better stabilisation. It also supports 4K recording at 30fps, while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro only offers full-HD recording.
